Aponogeton capuronii

Aponogeton capuronii is a lovely plant producing dark green, heavily ruffled thick leaves. This plant tends to require specific conditions to establish and is not recommended for beginners. Like many Aponogeton sp., capuronii will eventually lose its foliage and retreat into dormancy. In good conditions, the bulb should store enough energy to re-sprout after several weeks to begin the growth cycle again.

Crinum natans

Crinum natans is an attractive “centerpiece” plant for larger aquariums where the broad leaves will float to the surface when the plant gets larger. It has no specific or demanding needs as it can adapt to most pH, hardness and lighting levels and may even tolerate slightly brackish waters. As such, it can be a good choice for milder cichlid tanks since it has tough fibers that discourage fish from nibbling. I t is a slow growing plant and grows from a bulb. When planting, take care to leave one third to one half of the bulb exposed to prevent rotting.

Koran Angel – Medium

The Koran Angel, also called the Semicircle Angel, is a common angel available in the aquarium trade. Juvenile Korans have a black body with narrow blue and white markings that arch toward the rear of the body. There is a distinct white half circle near the tail. The adult Koran has a greenish-brown body. A wide, lighty colored vertical band with blue spots develops on its sides, and a blue outline forms on the gill cover and the fins. The diet of large angels generally consists of meaty foods, algaes, and marine sponge. Many frozen angel formulas and flakes may have extra sponge meal, and live sponges can be purchased to supplement their diet. These angels are not reef safe and have been known to nip at or eat some corals, sponges, and clam mantles. Like other angels, this species should not be kept with other large angels to avoid territorial conflicts. Occasionally, two angels may tolerate one another in a very large aquarium if they have very different coloration and appearance, but is not typically recommended.

Assorted Mushroom Rock – Large

Mushrooms are small, round anemones that show many different colors and patterns. Individuals form compact colonies over reef rock which resemble some hard corals. The mushrooms range in color from brown to green to blue and in rare cases orange or red. The surface of the polyp can be tightly beaded like a carpet anemone or smooth in appearance. The surface can be striped, solid in color, edged with a different color, or have any other number of patterns and variations. These mushrooms are carnivorius and photosynthetic. While they will take food from the water column and even feed on larger items like brine shrimp, they benefit from higher lighting and will show brighter colors under more intense light. They should be given ample space in aquariums as they may damage other corals with prolonged contact.
