The Polystigma is one of the most aggressive and largest African cichlids available. They will defend themselves and attack fish larger than themselves so be sure to choose tankmates carefully. These cichlids grow very large and need lots of room to swim and remain active. Nimbochromis polystigma has an attractive and elaborate brown and black coloration as a juvenile and changes to a mottle pattern with blue and orange trim as adults. They are very unique Malawan cichlids.

The Raccoon Butterflyfish has black mask bordered by a thick white marking. There is a wide black band extending from the gill to the dorsal fin. The rest of the body is yellow, with dusky brown on the upper body, and dusky diagonal lines on the sides. Butterflies do best in a fish only tank because of their tendency to pick at sessile invertebrates and corals. In captivity, they should be fed a combination of frozen and flake food fortified with vitamins and some type of vegetative matter. This species is fairy hardy in comparison to many of the butterfly species available and can usually adapt well to a captive diet.
