Long-finned Sleeper Gobies have white and grey bodies with a row of 5 dark spots along the lateral line, orange stripes on the cheeks, and light blue spots on the head and fins. This fish is best known as part of the group of gobies known as sand-sifters. They take mouthfuls of the substrate and sift it out through their gills, searching for food. This can help keep the substrate aerated, and may help prevent the build-up of organic debris that leads to high nitrate levels, algae, and cyanobacteria (”Red Slime Algae”). They should be kept in a tank with fine, soft substrate that will not damage their gills as they sift. They will eat a variety of frozen foods and possibly flake and pellet. Gobies prefer a tank with plenty of rocky hiding places. They get along with most tankmates, but can be aggressive toward other gobies. This goby is a known jumper. When startled or threatened, they have been known to jump out of uncovered aquariums. Always keep the tank covered and provide plenty of hiding places for this fish to retreat to.

The Banded Butterfly has four distinct dark bars on each side of its white body, with a concave head and small pointed snout. As juveniles, the Banded butterfly has an eye-spot at the base of the dorsal fin. Banded Butterflies need to be kept in a fish only tank because of their nature to pick at tube worms and corals. Feeding should consist of various vitamin enriched frozen and flake food with a small amount of vegetative matter. This type of butterfly should only be attempted by experienced aquarists.

The Cherub Pygmy Angel has a dark purple body with a yellow-orange face. This is one of the true dwarf angels and only reaches a couple inches in length. Despite this small size, they can become quite territorial and should not be kept in numbers. If you attempt to add other pygmy angels in the same system, it is best to acquire tankmates of significantly different coloration to avoid conflict.Otherwise, the Cherub Pygmy is generally peaceful toward other fish. They can be shy and require plenty of hiding places to feel comfortable. Cherub Pygmy Angels are safe in reef aquariums, but be cautious and observe, as some individuals may browse. Pygmy Angels are omnivores and do best on a diet of frozen meaty foods and algae.
