Nassarius Snail – Large
July 31st, 2008
Nassarius snails are scavenging snails that will gladly eat most types of fish waste, detritus, and leftover food. They generally have a conical looking shell and a long trunk-like siphon that is most commonly seen protruding from the sand or gravel. This siphon is used to locate food for these amazing animals. In their foraging, they will also help aerate the substrate by constantly moving through it, thus preventing dead spots from forming. They are harmless to other invertebrates, and are a great addtion to any reef or fish only tank.
