Red Texas Cichlid - Large
The Red Texas Cichlid is a big and beautiful hybrid cichlid that does not occur in nature, but is bred to have unique coloration. Once full-grown, this fish has a red to orange coloration with pearly, yellow-white speckles all over his body. This fish is known to be quite aggressive. They get rather large and require a very big tank, especially if you plan to keep them with other fish. Only other big, tough cichlids such as Green Terrors, Jack Dempseys, etc, should be attempted with the Texas. They are very personable, however, and can often be hand-fed. Just watch out for bites! A deep gravel bed and rockwork are a good choice for decoration, though these cichlids are quite strong and are known to move things around in their tank. They will eat just about anything, flake, pellet, frozen, etc, and of course the occasional feeder fish.
